Tyreek Hill is undoubtedly one of the most talented wide receivers in the NFL. The speedy NFL superstar was traded from the Kansas City Chiefs to the Miami Dolphins a few years ago after playing a major role in the beginning of the Chiefs’ dynasty. Now, he is the most important player on a potent Dolphins’ offense. But even someone like Tyreek Hill is not above criticism from his coaching staff.
Tyreek Hill recently went on the Million Dollaz Worth of Game podcast and spoke about the incident. Hill revealed that Dolphins’ head coach Mike McDaniel called him out following his performance against the Kansas City Chiefs in the playoffs.
“He called me out,” Hill said. “He was like: ‘You’re supposed to be the best player in the league and you got this guy putting hands all over you like that… we pay you all this money for what?’.
McDaniel was referring to L’Jarius Sneed, the cornerback who effectively shut Hill down for most of the game. Miami lost 26-7 against the Chiefs at Arrowhead. The Dolphins never mustered much of an offense in a game that featured near-record low temperatures.
Sneed was a hot commodity earlier this offseason. He was tagged by the Chiefs before getting traded to the Tennessee Titans and receiving a large contract extension.
“A lot of guys aren’t used to that,” Hill said. “A lot of guys aren’t used to sitting in a meeting room, being the best player on their team their whole entire life, and then a coach saying ‘Bro you sucked this play.'”
Tyreek Hill has hauled in 119 receptions in each of his two seasons with the Dolphins. He has eclipsed 1,700 receiving yards in both seasons and has caught 20 touchdown passes in his two seasons in Miami.
Who will the Miami Dolphins pick in the 2024 NFL Draft?
The focus for the Miami Dolphins this offseason has been adding talent so that they won’t get bounced in the first round of the playoffs again in the 2024-25 NFL season.
During free agency, the Dolphins focused on defense. Miami added pass rusher Shaq Barrett, interior defender Teair Tart, linebackers Jordyn Brooks and Anthony Walker, and safety Jordan Poyer along with a host of likely depth and rotational pieces. They also retained Raheem Mostert and Braxton Berrios on offense as well as adding tights ends Jonnu Smith and Jody Fortson.
The Dolphins’ top needs in the draft include help on both lines, as well as reinforcements at edge rusher, wide receiver, and safety.
The Miami Dolphins hold the following picks in the 2024 NFL Draft:
- First round (#21 overall)
- Second round (#55 overall)
- Fifth round (#158 overall)
- Sixth round (#184 overall) via Chicago
- Sixth round (#198 overall)
- Seventh round (#241 overall)
The Dolphins should be thankful that this year’s draft class features both top-end talent and plenty of depth at all of their positions of need aside from safety.
Miami could approach the 2024 NFL Draft in any number of ways. An offensive lineman could be a priority in the first round due to the team’s lack of talented depth. They may also choose to trade down and accumulate more picks to load up on players in the middle rounds.
